Lotus Block
Title
Lotus Block
Description
The Lotus Block was constructed after the 1889 fire that burned down much of Spokane. According to the August 8, 1889 issue of the Spokane Falls Review, the fire "cleaned out a number of little frame buildings" occupied by Chinese boarders and others. The Lotus Block, a stone building built next to Spokane's new city hall, was opened by 1902 and housed a number of Chinese businesses before its demolition in 1913 to make way for Union Station.
