Logan Hotel
Title
Logan Hotel
Description
The Logan Hotel and the various ground floor businesses from the southeast corner of Stevens Street and Main Avenue. This photograph, likely taken during the late-1950s based on the billboard advertising the Edsel, was taken from the same angle as the photograph taken by Ryosuke Akashi around 1913. The Logan Hotel was a single-room occupancy hotel providing low-cost rooms typically rented by single men who served as laborers in various industries. Ikuta "Harry" Takami and Tsuruyo "Mary" Takami ran the hotel at the time the photograph was taken. After Harry Takami retired in 1966, the hotel had essentially closed for good. In addition to the Takami family, the Logan Hotel was exclusively run by Yamada family in the late-1940s and early-1950s, and Honor White prior to that.
