Description
In spite of their names, both the New York Cafe and Golden Wheel Restaurant were Chinese restaurants in Ellensburg and Yakima respectively. The Golden Wheel Restaurant is still in business as of 2025. The New York Cafe occupied the ground level of a two-story building, which was restored in 2021. According to an August 31, 2020 article in the Yakima Herald-Republic, the building stood at the edge of a neighborhood populated by people of color called the Restricted District.
