Northwest Indians
Description
An account of the resource
The photographs in this digital collection include a range of images from the late 19th and early 20th centuries covering various tribes throughout the Inland Northwest such as the Siksika, Coeur d’Alene, Colville, Salish, Kalispel, Klikitat, Nez Perce, Okanagan, Sanpoil, Spokane and Yakima. In addition to photographs of the tribal members, the collection also contains photographs on clothing, artifacts, housing, festivals and treaties. These photographs were donated to the Spokane Public Library over many years and many came with incomplete, or even incorrect identification. While we have tried to correct misinformation, identification has not always been possible. The Northwest Room welcomes any additional information related to these images. Please contact us at nwroom@spokanelibrary.org.
