Portrait of Nellie Muzzy. Nellie Muzzy married Barton Mills who homesteaded a farm on Newman Lake in the early 1880s. Barton Mills was shot by claim jumpers. Then Frank Muzzy bought the pre-emption rights from Nellie Mills. She was one of the first teachers in the Spokane schools and taught for years at the Bancroft school.
