Northwest Indian Portraits
Title
Northwest Indian Portraits
Description
The portraits in this digital collection include a variety of images from the late 19th and early 20th centuries covering various tribes throughout the Inland Northwest. Some of the images are of well-known individuals, such as Chief Joseph or Princess Angeline while others are completely unidentified. There are many images of members of the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene Tribes taken at local events. All of these photographs were donated to the Spokane Public Library over many years and many came with incomplete, or even incorrect identification. While we have tried to correct misinformation, identification has not always been possible. The Northwest Room welcomes any additional information related to these images. Please contact us at nwroom@spokanelibrary.org.
